Romeo and Juliet anyone??

So here's what we periodically see in the backyard when the neighbor's dog is out...

They bring a whole new meaning to unfulfilled love between two individuals who will forever be separated. (We don't get to play with this neighbor's dog... now the two white boxers next door, that's another story. Zeus comes over sometimes for a little romp around the backyard.) I just think it's funny, they get so excited when they see each other and Jacey will race around the yard out of pure excitement. There have been times I've looked out the door and half of her body is under the fence... it's pretty silly but as usual, makes me laugh.

In other news, I did this rocketology lab with my pre ap classes at school that was in one word ... awesome. We were studying chemical reactions, and they had to investigate the best ratio of baking soda and vinegar that would propel their "film canister rocket" the highest. It was so awesome, I had one group of girls get the perfect ratio. Their film canister rocket went over our school building, which was easily 6 to 7 meters off the ground. They were so proud, and it was so good that I had them come back in my other pre ap class to demonstrate for everyone. I can't post pictures of the kids, but I do have one picture of the canister launching into the air. I wish I could post the video of the class, because they went crazy and all of the boys were trying to catch it. It was just plain awesome.

I posted a couple of their poster conclusions of their investigation. Some of the groups really did a good job with presenting their findings. I have really enjoyed having pre ap classes this year, they have been a totally different type of teaching, and have really challenged me as well, which I always enjoy. :0)

Anyway, just a couple of random thoughts. Hope you have a nice weekend! :0)

  1. That is pretty funny! At some point, you are going to have a Jacey-sized hole underneath that fence.

I LOVE rocket labs! I remember launching soda bottles -- so fun!

  2. I'm so glad that you are enjoying Pre-AP. But I knew that you would. You just have to ignore the motor-mouths.

  3. True Love!

You should search youtube for multistage coke bottle water rockets. Those things are neat! Especially the ones that have cameras mounted on them.

  4. When we had a dog for awhile, we found the next-door dog in our yard a time or two. It was much smaller and could get through the hole easily.

Love the rockets! It's teachers like you who will get American students back into science and engineering colleges. Glad you're making it fun!
